National Express West Midlands

National Express West Midlands are making changes to some services in the Acocks Green and Yardley areas. These changes have been driven by the need to remodel the complicated and unpopular route 41. The 41 is our most complained about service, as the routing is convoluted and difficult to understand - this leads to unreliability. The changes, which start in the week commencing 31 January 2010, aim to simplify our network in this area and provide new links between local centres.

Services 3 and 3A are NEW services, replacing services 12, 41 and 32. 
Service 3A will run from the city centre to Acocks Green via the current route of the 12 to Shirley (Haslucks Green Road, then via the route of the 32 and 41 to Acocks Green). This service will run every 30 minutes all day, linking parts of the Gospel Oak estate with the city centre, as well as Yardley Wood, Shirley Station and Wake Green.
Service 3 will run as per the 12 route, then on to Robin Hood and along Streetsbrook Road, terminating in Solihull. Offering a new link from Solihull to Robin Hood, as well as a direct bus to the city centre from Streetsbrook Road, this service will also run every 30 minutes.

Service 12 is re-numbered as services 3 and 3A (see details above). 

Service 31 is extended to Shirley Church from its current terminus point at The Gospel pub. Running along the current service 32 route to Robin Hood, then along the Stratford Road to Shirley Church, every 15 minutes, it provides a new all-day link to Shirley from Gospel Oak and also reinstates an all-day link between Acocks Green and Shirley. Service 31 will run as far as Robin Hood in the evenings and on Sundays.

Service 32 is being withdrawn. All sections of this route are covered either by the new 42, 3A or extended 31.

Service 41 is withdrawn. Sections of the 41 are covered by other services, including the new service 42, new 3 and 3A services (re-numbered and extended service 12) and the extended service 31. Many sections of the 41 will now have an  improved service.

Service 42 is a NEW service, running every 30 minutes Monday - Saturday, from Solihull Station to Yardley Swan via the current service 41 route. From Yardley the 42 service will run via the current route of service 32 to Acocks Green.
